Arthur Pearson, 1910.
Complete with a Signed Letter from Baden-Powell to Lancelot Allen (District Commissioner [Scouts] for Nottinghamshire) dated 1912 commending his good scouting work in the Nottinghamshire region - attatched loosely to book by way of old green cotton tiestring. Third and Enlarged edition, second impression. Bright red illustrated boards with original and rare pictorial dustwrapper. Housed in a bespoke deep red quarter Morocco clamshell box with gilt titles and raised bands. A very good copy with bright boards. Some mottling to top margin of rear board & shallow slither chip to head of spine. Internally clean with ink address to dedication page - usual tanning to leaves. The dustwrapper is chipped to head & more notably to foot of spine; corners with loss & long tear up the rear flap fold; front flap missing bottom half. Original price of 2/-nett to front panel of wrapper.
Pre WWI copies of this title in dustwrapper are remarkably uncommon and this is the only copy we have ever seen or handled.
