A Hercule Poirot mystery. The novel is an example of a "country house mystery". A life weary Doctor is to travel down to "The Hollow" with his irritating wife for the weekend; before he leaves, his daughter reads his fortune with tarot cards - the death card is drawn. On arriving at The Hollow an old flame greets him and this is the final link in a chain of fatal circumstances.
